What we store, and why.

Claude of the Day is a joke site by Limpio Digital. You don't need an account to use it, and we don't track you across the web. Here's exactly what we keep and why — in plain language, not legalese.

Cookies

We set a small number of first-party cookies, all strictly functional. Under EU/CNIL rules these don't require a consent banner, because they're necessary to provide the features you ask for.

“voter” — a random, opaque ID that lets us count your vote and reactions once and stop a page from being voted twice. It's HttpOnly (JavaScript can't read it) and lasts one year.

“lang” — remembers whether you chose English or French. Set only when you flip the language toggle; lasts one year.

That's the complete list. No advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, no third-party cookies.

How we stop duplicate votes

To keep the vote counts honest we need to recognise a repeat vote without identifying you. We take the “voter” cookie above plus your IP address and run them through a one-way cryptographic hash with a daily-rotating secret. We store only that hash — never your raw IP, and the hash can't be reversed back to it.

Your IP is used for this check and for basic rate-limiting (to block spam). It is not used to profile or track you.

If you suggest a name

The suggestion form is optional. If you fill it in we store the name and tagline you propose. The email field is optional — if you provide it, we use it only to let you know if your suggestion gets featured, never for marketing.

If you subscribe to the daily email

Subscribing stores your email address and your language preference so we can send the daily Claude. We use double opt-in (you confirm via a link), and every email has a one-click unsubscribe. Ask and we'll delete your address entirely.

No tracking, no third parties

There's no Google Analytics, no advertising or social pixels, and no embedded third-party trackers anywhere on the site. Nothing you do here is shared with advertisers.

We do sometimes feature a sponsor — “brought to you by …”. A sponsor is just a name and a link we place ourselves: it loads no third-party scripts, sets no cookies, and never receives any data about you.

Your rights & contact

Under the GDPR you can ask to access or delete the data tied to you (an email address, or a suggestion you sent). Just email contact@claudeoftheday.com and we'll sort it out.
